  Character:
Referred to as the "garden goddess," Pierette, was a quiet, simple woman who was married to a wealthy aristocrat who was rarely home. She filled her time in her voluptuous garden. Due to her dedication, her garden was the most magnificent in all the land. She was not intimidated by others and by no means strived to impress her fellow enthusiasts (especially Mary -"Garden Delight"), thus her costume is simple, not lavish - absolutely charming.

Description:
The dress is of embroidered yellow silk taffeta. Of the same fabric, the ruching completely contours the dress, edged with an inspired "fly fringe," as they used to call it. Complimentary silk in a paprika color is used as ribbon to enhance the stomacher, rosettes, and other important details. The stomacher displays a lattice design encrusted with delicate organza flower trim weaving amongst the taffeta. This trim is also seen on the cuffs and again on the petticoat skirt (which has been added later and is not shown in this photo).

Embroidered buttons are featured in the middle of all of the rosettes and again, on her choker. Accented white details demonstrate utilization of the lace of the day. The dress is her garden while she is attending events, but a shorter, quilted petticoat skirt benefits her while enhancing her garden. There is a matching bonnet or parasol to ward off the sun, while the matching handbag serves as a dual purpose for either outside engagements or holding her seeds while planting.

* The retail price for replication includes the base price of the dress and all extras shown in photo.  This costume is available for "Rental" at Behind the Scenes Costume shop, info under links.
