Character:
Sabine is the wealthy wife of an admiral that is often away at sea; therefore she must keep herself amused with her own adventures. She is pompous and flamboyant, which is frequently disheartening to women. Therefore her preference for consulting men for her escapades has led to her promiscuous reputation. However, due to her relentless, dramatic and aloof attitude, she is unaffected by others and what they regard her as.
Spending exorbitant amounts of money on lavish clothing for her gallant soirees, tonight we observe her attending an Opera which she parades her latest acquisition dedicated to her husbands' occupation in a marine blue moiré taffeta elaborate nautical creation.
Description:
The focal point of the dress is the stomacher which is a hand beaded applique, revealing her wealth. A cream ruffled ribbon accents the perimeter; box pleating has been edged with dyed, looped trim, adorned with silver leaves and cream looping gimp/ribbon, in serpentine designs throughout the dress. A dyed, rose loop trim has been added on the rococo cuffs and other points of interest. A purse matches the dress, which utilizes the beaded appliques and looped trim, and finishes off with a corded handle and beaded tassels.
However, the piece de resistance of this ensemble is the headpiece... Crafted with the fabrics, trims, and beaded applique's from the dress, the ship stands tall with 3 complete masts including billowing sails of silk chiffon with hints of rhinestones, pearl beaded gun ports, along with horsehair waves at its keel, and even an angel figurehead at its bow.
