Character:
Sofia was a young, simple
girl attending her first
official tea party in
London. She was not wealthy
and had to sell the family
cow to pay for the fabric
of her dress. She could
not afford a tailor and,
thus, hand crafted everything
herself with fabrics and
trims from existing dresses.
Description:
The style of this dress
is an inspired from English
dress, hence the name
Robe a'la Anglaise. A
hidden corset in the front
tightens up the bust to
allow the front panels
to button up the front.
An extra segment lays
over this pseudo-stomacher,
which is bordered with
a beige flower trim outlining
this facet and continuing
around the neckline. The
lightweight embroidered
cream taffeta is embellished
with burgundy chenille
flowers throughout the
embroidered multi-colored
flowers and vines.
The chenille color inspired
the burgundy taffeta accents
to create the ruffle on
the bottom of the petticoat
skirt, the ruching down
the front panels, and
the ruched cuffs. Lush,
rouge velvet is used for
the ruffles separating
the cuff and the beautiful
hand made flowers with
sprinkles of beads found
on the choker and skirt.
This detail will make
any girl sparkle ever
so demurely. Inspired
"fly fringe"
outlines the front ruching
and the delightful silk
plaid belted bow around
her waist is adorned with
a vintage brooch.
